Avionics Electronics 1 – Basic
Cost: $300
FAA accepted for 8 hours IA renewal
Course Description
Avionics Electronics are an integral part of all aircraft systems. Our Avionics Electronics courses are designed to help you play your central role in safe and effective aircraft maintenance by helping you develop the skills and knowledge that you need. The Basic Avionics course offers you foundational knowledge of AC and DC terms and a thorough understanding of circuit theory calculations, troubleshooting, measurement, and the function of resistors. Using detailed simulations and hands-on virtual exercises, this course is excellent preparation for the Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) test and certification offered by NCATT.
- The course consists of 6 lessons, each with its own quiz, and a final exam.
- You must pass the quizzes with a score of at least 70% to progress though the course.
- In order to receive a certificate upon completion of the course, the exam must be passed with a score of at least 75%.
Objectives
- Identify and define basic AC and DC current terms, and describe the relationships between them
- Understand and articulate the key facts and general principles of basic circuit theory
- Apply general principles of Ohm’s and Kirchhoff’s Laws to AC/DC circuits, and perform calculations
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair defective DC circuits
- Describe the procedures for calculating AC/DC measurement, and specify the problems associated with the improper use and storage of AC/DC meters
- Choose and safely use the most appropriate meter for a particular measurement application
- Identify types and calculate values of resistors, as well as troubleshoot and isolate faulty resistors in a circuit
